ABOUT WALTER SUHR & MANGO PUNCH!

Six-time winner in the Houston Press Music Awards, Mango Punch! lives up to that distinction. They have performed in prominent concerts and events, like the pregame show of world-renowned Super Bowl XXXVIII and the inaugural ceremony for both Major White (2002) and Major Parker (2010) of Houston. The band was formed in 1991 and has accumulated a pristine track record (as evidenced by client’s remarks and recommendations) performing at galas, corporate events and weddings.

INSTRUMENTATION

Customizable from 6 to 10 pieces, the core of the band consists of four singers (3 male vocals and one female vocal) keyboards, acoustic and electric guitars, bass, drums and percussion. At the client’s request we can add trumpets, saxophone, trombone, keyboards and/or other vocalists.

REPERTOIRE

The repertoire of Mango Punch! is among the most diverse in Texas. It includes pop, rock, top 40, funk, Motown, reggae, swing, jazz standards and music from the 1950s to current. If the situation calls for it, Mango Punch! can also perform a wide variety of latin music styles including salsa and merengue.

THE SHOW

For cocktail and dinner the band plays slow and mid tempo songs at a lower volume. When it’s party time the band transforms into a high-energy dance ensemble that will keep your guests on the dance floor.. Engaging the audience, the band never follows a predetermined setlist but will shape the repertoire in a way that keeps the dance floor full. Walter Suhr the leader of the band, encourage audience participation and regularly will lead guests into fun group dances if the situation calls for it.

EQUIPMENT

Mango Punch! owns state-of the art lighting and sound reinforcement equipment which includes digital mixers, wireless microphones, in-ear monitors, LED stage wash lighting, and break music DJ service. Our self-contained production can accommodate nearly any situation from an intimate 100 person dinner in a small banquet room to a 1500 person corporate event or convention in a large ballroom.

Walter Suhr & Mango Punch! is covered under the band’s $1,000,000 liability insurance policy.

The group works closely with brides, grooms, parents, venues, and wedding planners to ensure that entertainment and sound production is scheduled and performed accurately with special attention to detail.

In addition to providing a high-energy environment for corporate events, Mango Punch! can provide (or put you in touch with) professional dancers, instructors, and/or other entertainers. Technical directors can rest assured knowing that the band is experienced with “in-ear monitors”, “talk-back mics”, “reprisals”, “cues”, and “stem mixes”.
